Patience and Trust

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.” The life of Christ is mirrored in the prophecies made by the prophets, messengers of God. Thus in this light, it makes sense for one to reflect on the story of Salvation and God’s Plan. It came about over many thousands of years. It took time for the perfect plan of God to unfold. But it did unfold in His time and in His way. Perhaps all those in the Old Testament were anxious for the Messiah to come and to fulfill all things. But prophet after prophet came and went and continued to point to the future coming of the Messiah. Even the Old Testament law was a way of preparing God’s people for the coming of the Messiah. But again, it was a slow process of forming the law, implementing it for the people of Israel, enabling them to understand it, and then beginning to live it. What can we learn from such Plan? Patience and trust in the ways of the Lord.
